University of Edinburgh-Butterfly Effect

Today I am at the University of Edinburgh to participate in the summer leadership lecture series. My session was on my favorite subject, The Butterfly Effect, How Your Influence Can Change The World.

The Butterfly Effect is much like our individual influence. Every bit of influence, no matter how small, has the potential to influence seemingly unrelated actions.

The term Butterfly Effect is credited to meteorologist Edward Lorenze. In 1963 he stated…”a butterfly flapping its wings in Brazil could cause a tornado in Texas.

One small act can influence a major event. Even the smallest influence can change the world. Everyone influences others. You will never understand how you influence others, because you are not them.

Whatever your vocation in life, you can increase your impact on others by learning to use your positive influence.
